Updated Rankings for a Few 2022 ND Targets
Several Notre Dame targets from the 2022 class were unable to have a traditional season in the fall and played their junior seasons this spring instead. With more film to evaluate, there are a few prospects that have had their ranking/grade updated on Irish Sports Daily (with more to come).
Two big targets at receivers showed me they deserved to be ranked higher.
Tobias Merriweather is one of the top receivers on the board for the Irish and he is taking an official to Notre Dame this June. A boundary receiver who already proved he could win jump balls and track the deep ball well, he was much stronger after the catch as a junior and displayed improved short area quickness.
He has the traits to be a number one receiver. I moved him from a 92 to a 94. He’s a top-100 prospect in the cycle for me now.
Joseph Griffin is a Boston College commit and didn’t exactly get Notre Dame fans excited when he was offered because of his ranking and his level of competition. The athletic traits and his improvement are undeniable, though.
He showed more dynamic ability with his speed. He can win with more than just his size. A bumped him up to a 4-star prospect (91). I previously gave him a grade of 89.
Offensive tackle Jake Taylor is another prospect who is visiting Notre Dame next month for an official visit. I bumped him up to a 92 from 91 and continue to like what I see from his development. His ability to move to the second level, to adjust his level and anchor versus power, and the consistent edge he plays with are why he’s a priority recruit for the Irish.
I believe he projects to right tackle, but could play either guard spot at the college level.
