2023 Marion (Iowa) athlete Alex Mota‍ could see his recruitment blow up at any second as offers will come flooding in at some point.

The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder holds offers from Iowa State and Kansas State, but that will quickly change as Mota will head out on the camp circuit in June.

Notre Dame, Iowa, Missouri and Wisconsin will host him for camp and the Irish staff is excited to welcome him to campus.

"I've spoken with Coach Chris O'Leary Coach (Chad) Bowden," Mota told ISD. "They've told me how excited they are to see me because I'm going up to camp on June 6th."

Notre Dame projects Mota to play defensive back at the next level, which falls in line with most programs. However, Kansas State is recruiting him on the offensive side of the ball.

"Last year was my first year ever playing quarterback in my life," stated Mota. "It was a big change for me. Kansas State offered recently and they see me as a quarterback. Iowa State and Notre Dame see me as a safety."

Mota is open to playing offense or defense in college, but he's worked most of his career at receiver.

"I want to either play safety or wide receiver," Mota said. "I played wide receiver for the Fire Dragons in 7-on-7 and it's pretty fun. I've always worked out as a receiver too."

As a safety prospect, Mota covers ground in a hurry and arrives at the ball with extreme violence.

"I think just playing multiple sports and football is the only one you can tackle people in," Mota said of where he got his violent style of play from. "I just like to hit people."

Mota also knows he has work to do at safety and it's why the camps will be important for him in June.

"I only got to play three games at safety because I was just playing offense," Mota said. "I can probably read the quarterback's eye and find the ball better.

"I think I have good quickness and power to hit the runner. I don't think I'm undersized."

Mota isn't in decision mode, but he already knows what he'll be looking for in a future school.

"I'm going to definitely look at the academics and the culture," said Mota. "I want to see the overall vibe of the college too."
