Patience and persistence paid off for Notre Dame and Tommy Rees as 2023 King (Mich.) quarterback Dante Moore‍ showed up in South Bend last weekend for a visit before recruiting slows down in July.

Rees has only offered three quarterbacks in the 2023 recruiting class and his relationship with the composite five-star signal-caller is growing by the day.

“The relationship Coach Rees and I have is very strong,” Moore told ISD. “We both love the game of football and can talk about it for hours, but we joke around and always have something to laugh about outside of football. I really like that.”

Sunday was the look at Notre Dame for the 6-foot-2, 191-pounder and it didn’t disappoint.

“My first experience up there was great,” stated Moore. “I was there with my dad, brother and then Carnell Tate‍ showed up. I loved the buildings. What surprised me was the student count. I didn’t know there was only about 12,000 students there overall.”

Meeting up with Tate might not have been too planned out, but it’s clear the two have already built a strong relationship through camps and visits throughout the years.

“Carnell being up there - it’s always a great day when we both are somewhere together,” explained Moore. “We both loved the visit, enjoyed the tour and seeing the facilities.”

And yes, Moore expects to make a return to South Bend for another visit as he wants to keep building the relationship with Rees and the rest of the staff.

“The next time I go up there, I would like to keep talking to the coaches and just enjoy my time there even more,” Moore said. “We toured a lot of the campus, but just sitting and looking at the football field - it was beautiful.”

Moore isn’t in a hurry to make a decision and wants to take more visits in the fall to get a better feel for what he wants in a program.

“I have no clue when I’m committing,” said Moore. “I’m just enjoying this blessing as much as I can.”
