2023 University Lab (La.) linebacker Jaiden Ausberry‍ made his way across the country to see several programs during June and now has narrowed his recruitment to a top 10.

The composite five-star prospect will focus on Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas, Texas A&M and USC as the summer comes to a close.

Ausberry and his brother ( 2022 DB Austin Ausberry‍) made a trip to South Bend during the first week of June for camp and both left Notre Dame with offers from the defense staff.

Notre Dame left a lasting impression on both players and now Marcus Freeman will need to get the 2023 linebacker back on campus, which could happen this fall.

“The campus is really nice and beautiful,” said Ausberry. “The academics are really good. It's top-tier. It's really good in everything really all around. I'd really like to come back up here for a visit maybe during the season.

“I would really like to see what the game day atmosphere is like, really get to talk with one of the players at my position and see what it is from their point of view.”

Now, it’s going to be a tough pull as University Lab is literally across the street from LSU, the school his dad, Verge, played at and currently works as the Executive Deputy Ad / Executive Director Of External Relations.

Yet, Freeman and his defensive staff aren’t scared to dig into a recruitment and Ausberry is already impressed with the Notre Dame staff.

“The coaches were really good,” said Ausberry. “I get along with each and every one of them. I get good vibes from them.”

Long way to go here, but Notre Dame is definitely in the race.
