Nic Strong‍ ‍got a chance to visit South Bend this past weekend and the 2023 Alabama running back was able to hook up with Notre Dame running backs coach Lance Taylor while in town.

“It went pretty good,” Strong said. “I had a lot of fun at the campus. The atmosphere there was great. The fans were great. I met with Coach Taylor. He's great. I just had an overall good time.

“He loves my film. He loves me. He wants to keep in touch with me for sure and I might be back up there on the 30th of October.”

The Huntsville, Ala., native’s first impression of Taylor was a positive one.

“He had his family with him, so he's definitely a family guy,” Strong said. “Family is very important to him. He seems like a nice guy from what I've seen with my own eyes. He's well-mannered, a very nice guy. He looks like a players' coach.”

The 5-foot-10, 185-pound Strong, who has an offer from Tennessee, was impressed with Notre Dame’s performance against Purdue.

“We kind of started off a little shaky in the beginning, but once the defense got acclimated to it and the fans all got into it, it got rowdy,” he said. “They started to pick it back up and once we scored the first touchdown, we didn't look back once.

“The atmosphere was great from kickoff, the fans were great from kickoff. I had a lot of fun being in the stadium.”

It’s that atmosphere that has the Randolph High School standout looking at coming back for the North Carolina game next month.

“For me, it was the competitive nature of everyone in the stands,” he said. “They packed out the entire stadium. I don't think I saw a seat available. The student section was standing at all times. The band was lively all the time. Even the other guests watching the game were on their feet the majority of the time. It very rowdy and loud.

“That has to be a tough environment to play against. I'd rather play with that and feed off the energy.”

Strong doesn’t have any other trips locked in yet, but is considering stops at Missouri, Tulane and Ole Miss.
