Brody Barnhardt‍ didn’t get to the full Notre Dame gameday experience last month, but the 2024 North Carolina safety got enough to be impressed during the Irish’s game against Purdue.

“We actually ended up getting there like right at kickoff because our flight got delayed and then we got stuck in traffic,” the Providence Day standout said. “But, the game was awesome and the atmosphere was crazy. I really liked it.”

Barnhardt had been receiving mail from the Irish and liked what he’d seen from Notre Dame on TV, so decided he wanted to make the trip.

He was impressed with the Irish during their 27-13 win over Purdue.

“I know Notre Dame has a great defense and me as a safety, I like to watch #14 (Kyle Hamilton),” he said.

While he missed out on the pregame activities, Barnhardt did get check out some stuff afterward.

“One of the graduate assistants actually toured us around some of the facilities after the game,” he said. “They're super nice.”

He also had the chance to speak with Irish safeties coach Chris O’Leary.

“He was just talking to me about my season so far and he's going to check out my film in the next few weeks,” said Barnhardt.

The 6-foot, 175-pounder has an early offer from East Carolina.

“It's awesome,” he said. “I've been working pretty hard, but I'll keep working to get some more coming in.”

He said he “definitely” plans to keep in touch with Notre Dame.

He also has a trip planned for Virginia Tech in October.
