2023 TE Spencer Shannon Recaps Notre Dame Trip

Spencer Shannon‍ made the trip to South Bend from the West Coast last week and the 2023 California tight end was impressed.

“It went really well,” the Mater Dei High School standout said afterward. “I thought it was a beautiful school and the crowd was amazing. It was one of the best crowds I've seen.

“We toured the locker room and the field. We ended up going over and eating a lunch in the practice facility and taking pictures. After that, they took us down to the field to watch warmups.”

Prior to the tour, he was able to speak with Irish tight ends coach John McNulty.

“I talked to Coach McNulty and then we ended up going down to the field and watching warmups,” said Shannon. “Then we got taken up to our seats to watch the game.”

McNulty informed Shannon that he’d likely see him again when they check on 2022 Notre Dame wide receiver commit CJ Williams.

“Coach McNulty said between him and Coach Del (Alexander), they should be out in California recruiting CJ and they'll be out in California a lot, so they'll get to watch me,” said Shannon. “They want to stay in contact.”

Williams has had nothing but good things to say about Notre Dame.

“CJ said that it's his favorite place and it's the perfect fit for him,” Shannon explained. “He said the academics and the football tradition are top-notch.”
