2025 Findlay (Ohio) quarterback Ryan Montgomery‍ quickly impressed many around the country over the summer as Georgia Tech, Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee and Toledo offered before he started high school.

The freshman quarterback took over the starting role for Findlay in week three and hasn't looked back.

That said, Montgomery wanted to make the trip to South Bend with his family on Saturday to get time with the coaching staff and enjoy the weekend.

Those plans quickly changed as Montgomery became the first prospect offered in 2025 by Notre Dame as Tommy Rees offered before the game.

"It was super surreal," Montgomery told ISD. "I was really not expecting it. It's very exciting."

Notre Dame isn't typically known to offer freshman quarterbacks, but Montgomery is an exceptional talent.

"We were in the team locker room watching them get ready," recalled Montgomery. "Coach Rees came up to me and he talked to me briefly. He gave me the news, told me how good I looked out there, and wished me good luck in the playoffs. He told me to enjoy the moment."

Montgomery will now have the opportunity to play college ball with his brother, Luke, who is a 2023 lineman and also holds an offer from Notre Dame.

And yes, it's safe to say the family was happy to hear the news.

"They were pretty excited too," said Montgomery. "They were super stoked."

With the offer in hand, Montgomery might have paid a little closer attention to the Irish offense on Saturday night and left South Bend impressed.

"I really liked the offense," stated Montgomery. "They do a lot of playaction and I liked that because of how good their running back is - why wouldn't you? They throw the ball a lot and I like that.

"I definitely like those deep shots."

The atmosphere inside Notre Dame Stadium also caught Montgomery's attention as the Irish surprised many with two light shows.

"The atmosphere was awesome," said Montgomery. "It wasn't my first game there, but my first time being a recruit. The night game experience and the light show was awesome."
