Robert Sweeney‍ made the trip up to South Bend this weekend and the 2023 Texas offensive lineman left impressed.

“It was great,” the Dallas native told Irish Sports Daily afterward. “The gameday atmosphere is crazy there.

“We got to see Touchdown Jesus, the players walking through the crowd to get to the Stadium. That was really cool. And we got to sit down low at the game, which was really cool.”

The 6-foot-5, 250-pounder was impressed with campus.

“I love the architecture,” the Highland Park High School standout said. “I feel like it's not cramped, in my opinion.”

He also enjoyed watching Notre Dame beat Navy 34-6.

“It was a good game,” said Sweeney. “The student section is crazy. The Leprechaun was crazy. That was one thing that really stood out to me, I was like, 'This guy is crazy.'”

Prior to the game, Sweeney had the chance to speak with Notre Dame’s Offensive Recruiting Director, Dre Brown.

“He was just welcoming us to campus and to the facility,” said Sweeney.

Sweeney has early offers from Florida State, Penn State and Maryland, but that isn’t his main focus at the moment.

“I guess I'll just play recruiting out,” he said. “I don’t really know what I'm going to do at this time. I'm just trying to get healthy because I'm injured at the moment, so that's my number one priority and then recruiting will follow.”

He’s already made stops at Texas, Penn State and Oklahoma earlier in the season, which he enjoyed, but this was probably his last visit of the fall.

“I think I'm all visited-out this season to tell you the truth.”
