Post-Visit Notre Dame Recruiting Notes

Caught up with multiple prospects who visited Notre Dame today.

Obviously, everybody was impressed with the Irish’s on-field performance, but they were also impressed with various parts of the visit as well.

2024 WR/DB Brauntae Johnson‍ (pictured above) is a rising 2024 prospect who was returning to South Bend after camping at Notre Dame in the summer. He’s likely to be a highly-recruited in-state target before all is said and done. He already has offers from Purdue, Indiana, Iowa State and Central Michigan.

He said today “opened my eyes.” The environment and atmosphere definitely stood out to him and it seems like the kind of place he’d like to be. He reconnected with Aaryn Kearney and Del Alexander and was impressed with both as well, especially Alexander. Johnson told me that Alexander seems like the kind of coach he’d like to play for.

He also liked the balanced ND offensive attack.

He’s hoping the next step in the process is an offer from the Irish, but either way, it’s clear he’s looking forward to keeping in touch. He’s also a top basketball player, so don’t look for many visits anywhere over the next several months.

2024 QB Jayden Bradford

2024 South Carolina quarterback Jayden Bradford‍ arrived with offers from schools like South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, NC State, Penn State and Vanderbilt. He was very impressed by the campus and the atmosphere around a gameday in South Bend. He felt the Irish played a perfect game on offense and defense.

He’s looking forward to keeping in touch with the staff.

2024 quarterback Cole Welliver‍ made the trip up to Texas and told me he “loved everything about it.” He pointed to the tradition and heritage of the program and said he thought the game was “awesome.”

He was very impressed with the Irish offense and said he loved the offense and how much they threw the ball. It was the blend of athletics and academics that had Welliver interested enough in Notre Dame to make the trip.

Welliver already has offers from Washington State, Arizona State and Colorado.

2024 California receiver Dylan Karz‍ has an early offer from Arizona State.

Karz noted the campus is “special” and that it has a certain smell to it that gave him a good feeling.

He spoke with Del Alexander and Aaryn Kearney. He especially enjoyed his chat with Alexander, who said he was impressed with what he’s seen so far from the Brentwood School standout.

Karz called ND’s offense “electric” and said he definitely wants to return and keep in touch with the coaches.

2024 Michigan offensive lineman Andrew Dennis‍ arrived in South Bend on Friday night and got a chance to spend some time on campus then. He enjoyed the gameday atmosphere on Saturday.

It was a reunion of sorts for Dennis and his family and Jeff Quinn. Dennis’ father coached Quinn’s kids when Quinn was coaching at Central Michigan. Dennis said he was really impressed with Quinn.

Dennis has an early offer from Central Michigan and will take a visit to Michigan State next week.

But he said clearly that this trip was “the best experience I’ve had so far.”
