Report | Brian Kelly Headed to LSU
After a wild day of speculation, Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports dropped a bombshell on Monday night as he reported Brian Kelly is expected to be named the head coach at LSU.
Kelly’s name was linked to the USC job earlier this month, but he shot down those rumors quickly last week as his team prepared for Stanford.
"You know it's interesting, where your name is brought up is probably where they probably want you to look so that you're not looking where you should be looking,” said Kelly. “It's just a smokescreen. It's just - you know, this time of the year, throw names out there, so people don't look where they're supposed to look."
Yet, Kelly went a step further when asked if he would leave Notre Dame on his own volition.
"No, no. I mean, look, I think Mike Tomlin had the best line,” stated Kelly. “Unless that fairy godmother comes by with that $250 million check, my wife would want to take a look at it first. I'd have to run it by her."
Notre Dame finished the season 11-1 in 2021, a year where Kelly became the all-time winningest coach in program history as he’s amassed a record of 112-40 in South Bend over his 12-year tenure.
