The 2016 recruiting class was a unique one. It's not that it was special in any particular way. It was unique because the players who committed stayed committed. And that just doesn't happen very often in college football these days.

The 2017 recruiting class for Notre Dame is the polar opposite of that class. It got off to discouraging start when elite defensive end Robert Beal de-committed.
