Mickey surprised outsiders by leaving the West Coast, but as soon as Notre Dame offered back in February, those closest to him could see the potential for a fit there. Barely a month later, he committed to the Irish without even having had the chance to visit South Bend. He chose Notre Dame over offers from Cal, Oregon and Northwestern among others.

“I think he's the type of kid who would fit in anywhere, first of all. Obviously, he has highly academic achievements and has high academic goals. It's a great fit for him. Athletically, I think it's an incredible fit.
“One of the most competitive players I've ever coached. He hates losing a rep, let alone a series or a game. He's very vocal. He brings a lot of juice to the party and gets guys going. In the weight room, he's really strong for his body size. He'll grab some of the linemen's weights and start repping what they're repping and stuff like that and let them know about it too. He brings some fun to it for sure.”

If his measurables check out then his ceiling is extremely high. His athleticism, ability to change directions, and the fact that he can play off or press at a high level makes me believe he can develop into a multi-year starter for the Irish with the potential to play early in his career.
I think he’s an ideal fit at field corner and someone who could develop at slot corner. This is a great addition to the class for the Irish.
