BREAKING | Notre Dame RT Josh Lugg Out for Fiesta Bowl
ISD has learned through multiple sources Notre Dame right tackle Josh Lugg will miss the Fiesta Bowl due to a knee injury suffered during last Tuesday's practice.
According to a source, Lugg's injury did require surgery on Thursday, but the positive news for the Pittsburgh native is the recovery isn't expected to be extensive.
Lugg, who started all 12 games for the Irish, was graded (81.0) by PFF as Notre Dame's second-best offensive line starter overall this season.
Blake Fisher becomes the most likely replacement for Lugg as the true freshman was the day one starting left tackle before suffering an MCL injury in the first half of the Florida State game. It's far from ideal for the Irish offensive line despite the improvement over the second half of the season.
Starting two freshmen tackles against the nation's leader in sacks per game is also a concern. Oklahoma State finished the year with 55 sacks and averaged 4.23 sacks a game.
