Notre Dame WR Braden Lenzy Returning to Notre Dame

Notre Dame receiver Braden Lenzy has made his final decision and will return to the Irish in 2022.

Lenzy put together the best season of his collegiate career in 2021 as the senior caught 32 passes for 350 yards and three touchdowns.

In 2020, Lenzy battled a hamstring injury for the entire fall, which caused him to miss four games and was limited in a number of others. The Oregon native managed to catch seven passes for 53 yards and one score.

Following a redshirt year in 2018, Lenzy’s sophomore campaign was filled with big plays as he caught 11 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns while adding 13 carries for 200 yards and two touchdowns.

The 5-foot-11, 182-pounder has seemed on the verge of a breakout, but nagging injuries have held Lenzy back. When healthy, Lenzy has been able to give defenses problems as he’s a deep threat, but also in the run game with jet sweeps and reverses.

Lenzy is battled-tested and experienced, which is something the Notre Dame receiving corps needed following Kevin Austin Jr. declaring for the NFL Draft. The speedster is on the record speaking highly of Marcus Freeman's practice structure, which could improve his game for one final run.

"I think it's fun," said Lenzy. "It feels like we're playing more football. I just think the big transition from high school to college - we're serious, but we're supposed to be having fun because this is football.

"I feel that period, while it is competitive and you want to win, it's a reminder that we play this as a game growing up. It's just football. I think he's done a great job of making us feel that."
