Notre Dame captain Jarrett Patterson just put the icing on the cake this weekend as the California native has announced he’ll return for a fifth season.

The 6-foot-4, 307-pounder has started 34 games at center for Notre Dame and will be counted on to help transition the line through a coaching chang as Jeff Quinn will be replaced by Harry Hiestand.

Patterson will also get another chance to improve his NFL Draft stock with a more experienced Notre Dame offensive line. Entering the 2021 season. Patterson was considered one of the top centers in college football, but was the victim of a carousel of linemen around him.

2022 will also be a chance to show the NFL he's past the Lisfranc injury that sidelined him after eight games in 2020.

Notre Dame has its core back with Patterson, Isaiah Foskey and the Ademilola twins as decisions from other key seniors are still to come.
