Notre Dame has found its next receivers coach in Chansi Stuckey, who comes to South Bend from Baylor.

Marcus Freeman, Tommy Rees and the decision-makers at Notre Dame were blown away during Stuckey’s interview earlier this month as he was the only candidate offered the job despite reports stating otherwise.

“Chansi brings a diverse skill set to our staff,” said head coach Marcus Freeman. “He has NFL playing experience, and also has the ability to connect with our players and push them to develop their craft. I believe with him leading the way, we can build the best receiver room in the country.”

The former Clemson star joined the Baylor staff in January of 2021. Stuckey worked under Dabo Swinney in 2019 and 2020. In 2019, Stuckey was a GA and in 2020 he moved to an offensive player development role.

"Chansi can definitely take a receiver group to the next level," stated a source close to the Clemson program. "At Notre Dame, the big part of it will be the culture and program Coach (Marcus) Freeman wants to build. From Coach Freeman's comments, he seems like the person Chansi would gel with and want to work with.

"That's a big reason he went to Baylor as he liked what they were building there. If he's making this move, it's not just for personal ambition. Notre Dame is a great place, but all those other things matter just as much."

During his one season at Baylor, Tyquan Thorton had a career-highs with 62 receptions, 942 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. Thorton and RJ Sneed were named All-Big 12 for their efforts during the 2021 season.

As a player, Stuckey was All-ACC in 2006 (first-team) and finished his career with 141 receptions, 1,760 yards and seven touchdowns. The New York Jets drafted him in the seventh round of the 2007 draft. Stuckey also spent time with Cleveland and Arizona.
