Video | Notre Dame C Jarrett Patterson Explains Decision to Return for Fifth Year & Goals

January 24, 2022

Notre Dame offensive lineman Jarrett Patterson returning for a fifth year was significant for the Irish offensive line and Harry Hiestand.

Patterson explained how he leaned on former Notre Dame players to help advise him on the positives and negatives of leaving, which also centered around the injury he suffered in 2020.

Marcus Freeman being named head coach was also important to Patterson as he's excited to see the changes to the program. Patterson also felt it was exciting to see some of his classmates make a decision to return before he made it official.

The California native also went into detail on where he wants to expand his game and it starts with consistency. Patterson felt he had a solid 2021 campaign, but wants to play at a higher level in 2022.

Patterson touched on his initial thoughts on Notre Dame's early enrollees, who are getting used to the college life and Matt Balis' workouts.

The Notre Dame captain also touched on the returning experience on the offensive line as the Irish won't be a young group heading into 2022.
