Notre Dame head football coach Marcus Freeman stressed the importance of recruiting from the first day he was hired.

The first-year head coach once again emphasized Notre Dame’s focus on recruiting in the moments following the Blue-Gold game on April 23rd.

“Recruiting never stops,” Freeman said of what’s next for the program. “Recruiting, recruiting, recruiting. Every day. Recruiting. That is an everyday responsibility and our entire staff’s focus.”

Five days following the spring game, Freeman flew out to Las Vegas to support safety Kyle Hamilton at the NFL Draft.

Prior to the start of the draft, Freeman made an appearance on College GameDay where he stated the NFL Draft was the dream of every recruit and Hamilton was the latest student-athlete to choose the Irish for football and a degree.

Notre Dame’s head coach could have left it at that as his message was heard by thousands on ESPN, but that’s not Marcus Freeman.

Freeman was recruiting in the green room along with safeties coach Chris O’Leary.

Yes, in a limited amount of time, Freeman managed to get a few FaceTime conversations in with Notre Dame’s recruits between watching his former players get drafted (Sauce Gardner and Hamilton).

One conversation was with 2023 Martin Luther King (Mich.) quarterback Dante Moore‍, who was at Oregon for an official visit over the weekend. Moore has been Notre Dame’s top quarterback target for months and it’s just another example of Freeman and his staff taking advantage of every opportunity to recruit.

Freeman also managed to have FaceTime conversations with 2023 commits Keon Keeley‍ and Peyton Bowen‍ along with 2023 targets Carnell Tate‍ and Samuel M'Pemba‍.

It might seem small, but it’s Freeman living up to the bar he set for himself at his introductory press conference in December.

"I better be the number one recruiter,” Freeman said in December. “I better be the lead recruiter in every kid that we recruit. I plan on doing it. We obviously have to depend on our staff and I will depend on our staff to make sure we know who and what and why we are recruiting every individual, but if I'm not the lead recruiter, then we're cheating them."
