WHAT TO WATCH
- Notre Dame will face one of the hottest teams in the country as the Tar Heels are on a five-game winning streak entering Saturday’s semifinal. North Carolina swept Florida State the last weekend before heading to Charlotte.
- North Carolina hit four home runs on Friday to beat top-seeded Virginia Tech, including two from freshman Vance Honeycutt, who has 19 home runs on the year. Alberto Osnua also has 19 home runs on the year, while Mac Horvath has 16 long balls.
- It's also worth noting UNC's bullpen should be extremely fresh as they have used just four pitchers this week in Charlotte and got plenty of rest between Tuesday and Saturday’s semifinal. Brandon Schaeffer pitched his first complete game in college on Friday and the Tar Heels used just three pitchers during Tuesday’s win against Clemson.
- Notre Dame will have the luxury of throwing its No. 2 pitcher in Austin Temple on Saturday, but he did not have a good Wednesday in relief as he gave up two hits and two runs in just 0.2 innings.
- Tar Heels pitcher Will Sandy went 3.0 Innings on May 21st against Florida State where he gave up three hits, two walks and zero runs.
