SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Cole Geer‍ is no longer a regional recruit, but the 2025 Massachusetts quarterback will emerge as a true national prospect eventually.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder from Deerfield Academy picked up his first offer from UMass on New Year’s Day after a conversation with Minuteman recruiting coordinator Jeff Moore. He followed that up with an offer from UConn a few weeks later.

In May, he added Virginia Tech to the list and following a camp performance at Boston College at the beginning of June, he added BC.

“It's fun,” Geer said from the Best of New England Camp here last week. “It's been a dream of mine to start getting some offers. I'm hitting the camp circuit right now, so it's been a busy June. I've got a couple in July, but it's just been fun. It's a dream of mine.”

He’s also receiving interest from a handful of other schools.

“Rutgers a little bit,” said Geer.” I know Ole Miss has been talking to Steve Martin from Excel (Sports Academy).”

Geer also worked out at Penn State’s camp last week.

A lot of colleges are waiting on more game film from the youngster.

“I just turned 15, so I don't have much film right now,” he said. “But I work out with some good people at Excel; Tommy Guy, Steve Martin and then Mike McCarthy and Stevie (D'Emilia) at M2 (QB Academy) and they make sure to get my film out, which is nice of them.”

Multiple college coaches in attendance at the Second Annual B.O.N.E. Camp pointed to Geer as the best of the 500-plus players in attendance.

Geer enjoyed the opportunity to work out in front of dozens of Division-I college coaches.

“It was good,” he said. “I felt like it was good work. I got some good work, good competition with some other quarterbacks.”

It’s early, but Geer has an idea of what he’s looking for in a college.

“Family atmosphere is a big thing,” he said. “Getting me ready for the next level, that's a big thing. What I really like is when the coaches all have previous relationships maybe playing together or coaching at a different spot. I feel like that means a lot to me because they already have that connection.”

Geer is the next elite prospect for Guy, Martin and Excel, following in the footsteps of 2023 quarterback Pop Watson, who is currently committed to Nebraska, and 2024 quarterback Ryan Puglisi, who landed offers from Alabama and Georgia following an impressive performance at Notre Dame’s Irish Invasion.

“I've been working with Pop and Ryan for a little bit. They've been big role models for me. I've been competing with them. Now, seeing Pop commit to Nebraska, seeing Ryan get all those offers. I've been competing with them and I hope to grow to their level. That's what I'm working on right now, just learning off them.”
