After visiting for the USC game in the fall and again this spring, Marquise Lightfoot‍ was back at Notre Dame for last Tuesday’s BBQ.

“I got to see more of the campus,” the 2024 Chicago defensive end told Irish Sports Daily afterward.

The Kenwood Academy star got to meet Irish head coach Marcus Freeman for the first time.

“That was a good talk,” he said. “It was mainly about the defensive scheme and how bad they really want me.

“He's real. He's a straight shooter and he's a defensive-minded coach.”

The 6-foot-5, 210-pounder also spent time with defensive coordinator Al Golden and defensive line coach Al Washington.

“They liked me a lot,” said Lightfoot. “They said that I fit the description of how they want their players to be.”

Lightfoot also enjoyed getting the chance to meet some of the other recruits who were in town and said he “definitely” felt like he fit in with the group.

He was set to visit Michigan and Michigan State after Notre Dame.

Lightfoot expects to return to South Bend for a game in the fall and will clearly be considering Notre Dame seriously moving forward.

“It's definitely going to be one of the top five schools for me.”
