Last month, Jack Larsen‍ was back in South Bend as a Notre Dame commit for the first time and the 2024 North Carolina tight end again left impressed.

“It was awesome,” Larsen said of the Irish’s BBQ event. “It was great. It was great being around all the other commits and just being around the coaches again. It was awesome.”

Larsen committed to Notre Dame back in June shortly after a trip for Irish Invasion.

He was excited to reunite with fellow 2024 Irish commits CJ Carr‍ and Cam Williams‍ for the BBQ.

"Just to start forming those connections early on and really talk about recruiting some other guys,” said Larsen. “It's crucial. We're going to be teammates, so it's definitely a huge part of it.”

2024 Missouri running back Aneyas Williams‍ was one of Larsen’s top uncommitted targets during the event.

“I was talking to him,” Larsen said. “He was in my little group for the competition stuff. I was telling him that Notre Dame's a great place. Obviously, he knows. He was the guy that I was talking to a lot. I know CJ and Cam were talking to other people as well.”

Larsen is impressed with Williams’ ability and believes the Irish have a shot.

“He's a baller,” he said of Williams. “I think it's most definitely a good sign that he was up there for the Invasion camp and back the same summer. I think that's definitely an encouraging sign that he is interested.”

Larsen was also excited to see tight ends coach Gerad Parker again.

“He's great,” said Larsen. “It's great to talk to him about the season and forming that relationship and just keeping it going.”

But overall, the BBQ was more about connecting and building relationships than serious recruiting.

“It was nice to go up there committed and kind of just hang out and be around all the players,” Larsen said.

Larsen will be back in November for the Irish’s home game against Clemson.

But his current focus is on his junior season at Charlotte Catholic. Practice started earlier this week and the season officially kicks off on Aug. 19th against South Mecklenburg.

“It's coming up. It's crazy.”

He certainly looks ready in the preseason.
