Notre Dame Hosting 2024 OL Twins This Weekend

Notre Dame will be hosting a pair of 2024 Ohio offensive linemen for Saturday’s game in Cincinnati twin brothers Charlton and Mercer Luniewski‍.

Irish Director of Recruiting Chad Bowden reached out to the twins on Sunday to invite them to Notre Dame’s home opener against Marshall.

“It's a huge school,” Mercer told ISD. “They have a great offensive line program. In addition, it's pretty close to a couple other MAC schools that we might visit that day as well. We might go to Toledo that night as well, so it's convenient. And some of my family wanted to go. It just felt right.

“We're trying to set up a bunch of visits this year to get to know a lot of the staff at these schools and kind of narrow down our options.”

Bowden’s outreach was the first contact the twins had received from the Irish. They’re hoping to see a good game, pick up some tips, get to know the area and meet some of the people within the program.

They’ve been to campus before as cyclers, before they outgrew that sport.

The 6-foot-7, 305-pound Mercer has offers from Akron and Central Michigan while his 6-foot-6.5, 285-pound twin has Akron. Cincinnati is showing strong interest and could offer soon.

“We're also in contact with UK and a few other Big 10 and SEC schools,” Mercer said.

The brothers are extremely close and are hoping to attend the same college.

“That's the dream,” Mercer said. “Absolutely. Of course, if circumstances come down to it, we'll make the logical decision, but that is definitely our goal.”

The Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy standouts have an early idea of what they’re looking for in a college.

“We want a solid football program,” said Mercer. “Our end goal is absolutely playing, even at a professional level.

“I think that we have the athleticism, the size, the ability to learn. Our goal is to have a program where they have great accommodations for their student-athletes, a great culture, great academics and just a program that will fit us in the best way possible and give us the best opportunity to reach our goals.”
