It didn’t take long for Keishjuan Telfair to show Notre Dame he was seriously interested.
The 2027 Ohio cornerback had an eventful call with the Irish last month.
“They were just saying how they like how I play and they like how I play at corner and they said they would like to offer me,” Telfair explained.
“And they wanted me to come to that game that same week.”
The 6-foot, 160-pounder quickly accepted the invitation to the Irish’s home finale against Syracuse that weekend.
“It was a good game,” the Euclid High School star said. “They blew them out of the water.
“I went on the Player Walk. That was pretty cool. Then, I met the corners coach. He didn't really say much because they had to go to the game, but he was saying how they wanted me to come back down for the Junior Day.”
The atmosphere certainly made an impression.
“It was kind of weird, but they were throwing marshmallows and every time they did something good and they had people in the air doing push-ups,” he laughed.
Telfair was impressed with his brief interactions with Irish secondary coach Mike Mickens.
“He's a good guy,” Telfair said of Mickens. “It sounded like he gave off a real good energy and a hardworking man.”
He has a connection to Notre Dame through his high school athletic director.
“My AD, Tony Fisher, he's a Notre Dame alum,” Telfair said of the former Irish star running back. “He always talks about Notre Dame highly.”
Telfair does plan on getting to next month’s Junior Day in South Bend.
“I’d just want to see around the school more, how everything is outside of football and around the campus,” he said.
Telfair has dozens of offers from schools like Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Indiana, Wisconsin, Clemson, USC and Miami among several others.
He visited Clemson, Penn State, Michigan and Cincinnati this Fall.
He’s planning to make additional trips in 2026.
“I want to get to Miami, USC, Ohio State and Clemson,” he said.
It’s early, but he’s identified a couple key factors in his ultimate decision.
“I plan on getting the field as a freshman, not even if I'm at the one, even if I'm at the two or the three to work my way up to the one and basically the education.”
