Notre Dame’s defense knew that if they wanted to win on Saturday, they’d have to do the heavy lifting to accomplish that. They did that and then some against Cal.

This was easily the best defensive performance of the season for the Irish. They continued to limit explosive plays (only one play of 30-yards or more), but added in the pieces they’d been missing with the pass rush and run defense.

They pressured Cal quarterback Jack Plummer on 45.
