Notre Dame Commit Tracker
Whenever a new gamebreaker comes along in college football, inevitably a question naturally comes up.
What was that kid was like in high school?
It remains to be seen whether 2023 Notre Dame athlete commit Dylan Edwards will become a true gamebreaker at the next level, but if he does and people look back on his days at Derby (Kan.) High School, they’ll come away saying, ‘Oh! Wow!’
Edwards had another monster performance in Derby’s 70-13 win over Haysville Campus on Friday night, rushing for 150 yards and four touchdowns while adding another score on a 55-yard punt return.
FLORES GOES OFF: 2023 Irish wide receiver commit Rico Flores Jr. made his impact felt during Folsom’s 42-13 win over Oak Ridge.
The California native caught five passes for 154 yards, including touchdown receptions of 23, 62 and 55 yards.
GREATHOUSE FLASHES: It was a quieter day for 2023 Irish receiver commit Jaden Greathouse as his Westlake (Texas) squad blew out Del Valle 73-7 on Friday night.
Greathouse managed just one reception for 16 yards in the blowout, but did add a 54-yard punt return for a touchdown.
JAMES SHINES IN DEFEAT: Stony Point fell to Round Rock 32-16 on Friday night, but Irish receiver pledge Braylon James still showed why he was as coveted of a recruit as he was.
The Texan caught five passes for 180 yards and a touchdown in the loss.
BOWEN SHOWS UP IN ALL THREE PHASES: 2023 Notre Dame linebacker commit Drayk Bowen continues to be a force on offense, defense and special teams and was again in Andrean’s 44-0 win over Munster on Friday night.
Bowen ran for 80 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries while also pulling in a 23-yard pass for another score. He also showed up on defense and on special teams with this huge hit on kickoff.
BELL RINGS IN LOSS: Micah Bell and his Kinkaid squad lost to St. Thomas Catholic 35-14 on Friday night, but the 2023 Notre Dame cornerback commit still made his presence felt.
The speedster rushed for 164 yards and both Kinkaid touchdowns on 29 carries.
BOWEN SHINES IN FRONT OF FREEMAN: With Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman and safeties coach Chris O’Leary in the house on Friday night, 2023 Irish safety commit Peyton Bowen and his Guyer squad dismantled Boyd 56-7.
The highlight of the night was Bowen’s 59-yard punt return for a touchdown.
GRAY GETS TWO PICKS, HOUSES ONE: Christian Gray and his DeSmet squad knocked off St. Louis University 37-20 on Friday night.
The 2023 Irish cornerback commit (pictured above) picked off two passes and returned one 55 yards for a score while also helping to contain 2024 five-star receiver Ryan Wingo, who managed just two catches for 13 yards on the other side.
MINICH PUTS FINGERPRINTS ON WIN: 2023 Notre Dame safety commit Benjamin Minich made multiple impacts on Lakota West’s 37-7 win over Mason on Friday night.
Minich made an interception, kept a drive alive with a fake punt that he had the freedom to call and by recovering a blocked punt to set up another score.
2024 COMMITS CONTINUE TO SHINE: 2024 Irish quarterback commit CJ Carr continues to put together extremely efficient outings. He completed 13 of his 14 pass attempts for 251 yards and five touchdowns in Saline’s 56-0 win over Pioneer this past weekend.
Tight end commit Jack Larsen caught two passes, including a 75-yard touchdown pass in Charlotte Catholic’s 49-7 win over Rocky River on Thursday night.
Cam Williams and his Glenbard South squad fell to South Elgin 49-27 on Friday night, but the wide receiver pledge still made an impact despite the respect paid to him by the opponent.
"On film we thought that was something we could do, and part of it was trying to keep Cam Williams off the field," South Elgin head coach Dragan Teonic told the Daily Herald.
"We had him covered multiple times, he came up with a couple of touchdowns. They had some momentum early."
Indeed, Williams finished with 7 catches for 112 yards and two scores.
