Brauntae Johnson‍ made a pair of trips to Notre Dame over the summer, including an appearance at Irish Invasion, where the 2024 Indiana athlete earned an offer from the Irish.

He returned a month later for Notre Dame’s BBQ and is set to be back again.

“I'm going down there this weekend,” the 6-foot-3, 170-pounder told Irish Sports Daily.

“This is actually going to be the first Notre Dame game for me this season.”

In addition to Notre Dame, Johnson’s offer sheet includes schools like Auburn, Penn State, Tennessee, Washington, Michigan State, Kansas, Iowa State, Missouri, Cincinnati, Indiana and Purdue among others.

He’s excited about getting back to campus for the Irish’s game against Clemson on Saturday night.

“Looking forward to getting back in touch with them,” he said. “Just a good time really with my family.”

Notre Dame was a top school for Johnson even before the offer and afterward, he wasn’t shy to say the Irish were at the top of the list.

“Just the part after football and all the benefits that come with it; not only football,” he said of his interest in Notre Dame.

Notre Dame extended the offer after working Johnson out at safety, but he said the position has not been “finalized” just yet.

“They told me to let them know if I keep getting recruited for receiver,” he explained. “It's up in the air right now. It's either/or, either way.”

Johnson said virtually every other school is recruiting him as a receiver. For his part, Johnson seems to prefer offense, but it doesn’t sound like it’ll be a deciding factor for him.

“I like scoring, really,” he acknowledged. “I like scoring touchdowns, but I'll definitely play safety. If I have to play safety at the next level, it wouldn't be a problem for me.”

He visited Purdue for a game earlier in the season and was in Knoxville for Tennessee’s win over Alabama last month.

“They were just good experiences,” he said. “That's really what I'm doing for the visits, just getting the experience.”

Johnson doesn’t have any other visits locked in beyond this weekend.

He does expect to come out with a Top 10 sometime this winter.
