Notre Dame defensive end Isaiah Foskey has made a decision on his future. Foskey will bypass a fifth year in South Bend and enter the 2023 NFL Draft. Foskey will not play in the Gator Bowl on December 30th as well.

“First and foremost, I would like to thank God for ordering my steps,” Foskey said in a statement. “I’ve always loved and lived by ‘A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men.’ (Proverbs 18:16) God has put me in front of great people help me succeed both in life and in football.

“I would like to thank my family as they have always been by my side. My success has been an will always be their success. You all have shaped me to be the man I am today and I am forever grateful.

“I will always love and respect Notre Dame for helping me grow over the last 3.5 years of my life. I have matured as a football player and as a man here in South Bend. Thank you to the entire athletic and coaching staff here at Notre Dame as well as every instructor, mentor and peer. For my brothers that I take the field with each Saturday, the work we put in day in and day out will always be cherished. Love ya’ll boys. #FTB

“There is truly no place like Notre Dame. It has been a true honor to wear the gold dome.

“After much thought and prayer, I’ve deiced to enter the 2023 NFL Draft.”

It’s a decision that comes as no surprise as Foskey has been a terror off the edge the last two seasons. Foskey leaves Notre Dame as the all-time sacks leader in program history with 26.5 after breaking Justin Tuck’s record against Boston College.

For his career, Foskey tallied 122 tackles and 31.5 tackles for loss in addition to the 26.5 sacks.

“It's a reflection of so many things,” Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman said of Foskey breaking the sack record. “He didn't come back just to break the record. He came back to win a national championship, just like you said. And you know what, he didn't win a championship this year. But what he did for this program and what those seniors did for this program to me will be the reason why we do win a national championship in an upcoming future.

“I told those guys last night in our last meeting, senior meeting, thank you because they built the foundation. They really have built the foundation of what is to come. I'm glad he got a personal achievement, but what he did for this program in terms of those seniors, it's going to be really impactful.”

Foskey also became the first player in Notre Dame history to block two punts in one as he accomplished the feat against UNLV. The California native blocked four kicks during his time in the blue and gold.
