DJ Brown Returning to Notre Dame for Round Six
Notre Dame safety DJ Brown skipped the fancy announcements and got straight to the point on Sunday night.
“Appreciate it all,” Brown stated on Instagram. “Excited to be back in the Blue and Gold for another year.”
It’s what you’d expect from Brown, who has turned into a solid contributor for the Fighting Irish over the last two seasons.
The Annapolis (Md.) native recorded just 15 tackles combined in 2019 and 2020, but Brown has totaled 90 tackles and three interceptions in his last two years of action.
Brown’s return might not carry the same weight as if Michael Mayer returned to school, yet it’s an important piece to the puzzle as he’s played in 47 career games, including under some of the brightest lights in college football.
The departure of Brandon Joseph to the NFL and Houston Griffith to graduation paves the way for Brown to compete with veterans Xavier Watts, Ramon Henderson and Oklahoma State grad transfer Thomas Harper.
Brown started 10 games of Notre Dame’s 13 games in 2022 and tallied 48 tackles, including a career-high of nine tackles against Marshall.
