2024 S Davis Andrews Talks Notre Dame Offer

January 30, 2023

Davis Andrews‍ had been talking with Notre Dame for a few weeks before receiving an offer from the Irish last Wednesday, but the 2024 Utah safety was still blown away.

“It's kind of crazy,” Andrews told Irish Sports Daily afterward. “It's kind of just almost like a dream come true.

“I don't even know how to explain it. It's almost astounding because you grow up just hearing about Notre Dame and you see movies on it and now that I have the opportunity, it's almost kind of shocking. It's really cool.”

The 6-foot-3, 195-pounder also has offers from schools like Utah, BYU, Arizona, Stanford, Tennessee, Cal and Washington State among others.

Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman and safeties coach Chris O’Leary stopped by American Fork High School before leaving the offer.

“It was really cool,” Andrew said of having the Irish coaches visit his school. “Freeman was an absolute stud. He walked in and you know there's something different about him.

“O'Leary's just a really cool guy. They're really real and coaches who you just want to be playing under.”

Andrews has been talking with the Irish since the beginning of the month.

“After Signing Day, O'Leary's been talking to me and we've been building a relationship over the phone,” he said.

He’s already visited Utah, BYU and Stanford and is excited to hit the road again with one visit more than tentatively scheduled.

“We were talking about coming out to the spring game, which I will on April 22nd, we pretty much already have locked up,” he said. “So, I'll be coming out in April. Then, talk about an official to come out.”

He has a loose timeline for how he expects the process to play out.

“I'll probably narrow my list down in the beginning of the summer and then take all my officials during it,” he said. “I want to commit before my senior season.”

And he has an idea of what he’ll be looking for when he does.

“I think being comfortable where you are and loving the university because if you're not comfortable, you won't thrive at the university that you're at. That's what I think is really good about Notre Dame, they're great people. You can tell they're really good guys and you want to be where success happens. I think that's what Notre Dame is.”
