Brian Mason’s departure to the NFL headlined the week of Notre Dame news as the Indiana native is one of the top special teams coordinators in the country. 

Notre Dame certainly didn’t have the worst special teams when Mason arrived, but the unit wasn’t necessarily good either. It was a unit that was focused on not making mistakes and Mason quickly into a unit that made plays, which was refreshing to see.
