It’s not completely locked in just yet, but Benedict Umeh‍ is planning to be at Notre Dame on April 6th.

The 2024 defensive end from Connecticut’s Avon Old Farms by way of Toronto completed a visit to Stanford this past weekend.

He’ll be at Penn State later this month and is looking at stops at Duke, Michigan and Ohio State in early-April.

Umeh has been in consistent contact with Irish defensive coordinator Al Golden and defensive line coach Al Washington.

Umeh saw his recruitment explode over the past six months and currently has offers from Notre Dame, Stanford, Michigan, Penn State, USC, Auburn, Florida, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M along with a host of Ivy League schools and several others.

One of the most matures prospects we’ve come across, Umeh knows exactly how he plans to take advantage of these visits.

“The main thing for me about all these visits is I'm really trying to get to know the players and the coaching stuff,” says Umeh. “I can do my homework on Notre Dame and find out all I need to know about their academics and football and this and that. But I can't really get to know the players anywhere but in person. So that's what we're going to try to aim to do.”

That’s what he did at Stanford.

Academics is going to be a huge factor in his decision, but he’s also likely to put himself in a position where he’s only considering schools with elite-level academics.

He’s loved his time at Avon Old Farms and would like to find a college with a similar feel.
