The Latest | Notre Dame & Justin Scott
A few months ago, a commitment from Justin Scott seemed almost inevitable for Notre Dame, but the 2024 five-star defensive lineman pumped the brakes on the process a bit and decided he wasn’t quite ready to make a final decision like he planned at one point in January.
While it’s always great for a program to land a commitment from a player of Scott’s caliber, nobody wanted him to make a decision before he was ready.
“I decided to push it back because I hadn't even taken any officials yet,” he told Irish Sports Daily this week.
“I don't want to rush the process. I want to be able to just enjoy it and just let everything fall into place.”
The Irish certainly haven’t let up.
And as defensive line coach Al Washington, defensive coordinator Al Golden and head coach Marcus Freeman have continued to build strong relationships with the St. Ignatius College Prep star, Scott is set to return to South Bend this weekend looking to make those bonds even stronger.
Scott expects to be able to enhance those relationships in person this weekend.
“I feel like it's different because you can crack jokes, you get to be there face to face with the coaches, and actually build,” he told ISD.
In addition to the coaches, Scott is being recruited by other recruits and current members of the Irish roster, which means a lot to the Chicago native.
Scott has plans to visit Miami unofficially in April and already has a pair of official visits locked in; one to Georgia June 2nd and one to Ohio State June 25th.
