Bodie Kahoun‍ may not need to see much more than what he saw during his first visit on Wednesday, but the 2024 Virginia linebacker enjoyed the trip so much that he’s already set to return next month.

“It was amazing,” Kahoun told Irish Sports Daily afterward. “Everything checked the list. It was all perfect, really. Just going around campus, seeing everything. The facilities were great. The coaches were great. I had meetings with all the coaches and that was nice. I got to go over some film. I did a little classic photoshoot. We just had a fun time really with everyone.”

The Patrick Henry High School star spent time with virtually the entire defensive staff, including Al Golden and Marcus Freeman.

“They were all great,” he said. “It was finally good to finally have a conversation in person. They're all exactly what I expected. They're all very easy to talk to, friendly and easygoing.”

The coaches encouraged him to watch current Notre Dame linebacker JD Bertrand.

“They said I play a lot like him and they see me playing like him and me filling his shoes,” Kahoun said. “We're about the same size, same height. We move the same. We both have the speed, so yeah, I see the resemblance a lot.”

Kahoun, who picked up an offer from the Irish last month, arrived on campus bright and early, in time to attend team meetings before practice.

“It was very disciplined,” he said of the practice session. “It was their first day, but they all did great. I could not tell it was their first day. They were all giving 110%.”

He had the opportunity to get a feel for the players and felt they’re a group with which he’d fit.

“Oh, definitely,” said Kahoun. “They're all super friendly. They all play the sport because they love it and that's how I am with it.”

He also had “a whole lot” academic meetings.

“It's not just any normal school,” Kahoun said. “It's basically like an Ivy without the Ivy in it. It's just a great school and it sets you up for life.”

Kahoun committed to Ohio State to play lacrosse last year. He met with the Irish lacrosse staff on Wednesday and was told he had a spot on the team if he wanted it.

“I'm definitely very thankful to be put in the situation,” he said. “It's definitely something I'm looking forward to and something I could do in the future. I just have to sit down and talk with the family before I make that big decision on playing both.”

Kahoun will hit Duke on Friday and South Carolina on Saturday before returning to South Bend for the spring game on April 22nd even though he didn’t leave with many questions.

“I really hit everything,” he said. “I saw everything. There's nothing in particular that I need to see because I feel like I saw everything.”
