EJ Colson‍ didn’t hold back when talking about his first trip to Notre Dame.

“Amazing,” the 2025 Georgia quarterback said after visiting on Tuesday. “Great meeting staff, campus beautiful. It was amazing. It was great meeting the staff, seeing the campus. The campus is just beautiful.

“Words can't explain it.”

The 6-foot-1, 183-pounder has several offers, including from schools like Arkansas and Nebraska.

He was going to be in the Midwest already and figured it was worth stopping in South Bend.

“We knew we wanted to hit some schools during my spring break,” the Cedar Grove High School standout explained. “We were looking at a school like Indiana and then we realized Notre Dame was also here, so I hit Coach Gino (Guidugli) up and he set me up. I got set up with the recruiting staff and we just went ahead and set the visit up.”

While on campus, Colson spent time with Guidugli, Marcus Freeman and Dre Brown.

He specifically enjoyed his meeting with Guidugli.

“It was amazing,” he said. “We got some board work in. He really broke things down to me. I was able to show him a couple things that we run in our offense. It was just great being able to pick off his mind, knowing what he's done with other quarterbacks.

“He's wonderful. He's energetic with the guys. I saw that. It was a 6 o'clock meeting and he was energetic. He loves all of his guys. Even after practice, they were doing conditioning and he got in there and did all the reps with them. He's a true leader.”

Colson was also impressed with Freeman.

“He was just saying it was great to finally meet me,” said Colson. “He said he'd been watching my film, he loved the kind of player I was and he was hoping to just to continue building a relationship from now until I made my decision.”

Colson wants to do the same.

“Just keep building a relationship,” he said of what’s next for him and the Irish. “This is a place that has always been a top school for me because of the academics and also the athletics. It's just going to be just building relationships with the coaches, looking at the school, the Biology program because that's what I want to major in. Just seeing how everything shapes out.”

He said an offer from the Irish “would mean everything” to him.

“Notre Dame has really been a top school for me since before all the recruiting started,” he said. “I just love the history behind it, the academics, it's a place where I'd be able to compete a national championship and become a great quarterback and a great player.

He’s also made stops at UAB, Tennessee, Indiana and Purdue with trips to Cincinnati, Virginia Tech and NC State next.
