2025 LB Target Marco Jones Plans To Visit Notre Dame
Marco Jones could barely believe it when he learned Notre Dame was offering him a scholarship.
“I was in shock,” the 2025 California linebacker told Irish Sports Daily.
“I was super, super excited. It's Notre Dame, I mean, everybody loves Notre Dame. It's a very historical program, and I was juiced.
The San Ramon Valley High School standout spoke with defensive coordinator Al Golden, Director of Recruiting Chad Bowden and Director of High School Scouting Dre Brown.
“They just thought that I was a really good linebacker and that I would be an asset to their defense,” Jones explained. “They were just impressed with my film and liked how I carried myself.
The feeling was mutual.
“I was extremely impressed,” he said of the Notre Dame staffers. “They all are super standup guys and I felt like it was a cool place, and it was a very good coaching staff, and I liked everybody that I talked to.
Jones is going to try to make the trip to South Bend when he can.
“I’ve got to go out there and visit,” he said. “I’ve got to go check everything out in person and see it with my own eyes.
“I do not have any dates. I play baseball too for high school and summer, so it's a little busy as of right now, but I'm trying to figure all that out.”
Jones, who also has offers from USC, Oregon, Washington, Colorado and Oklahoma among others, says he’d like to play both sports “as long as possible.”
It’s too early for him to start thinking about favorites.
“To be honest, I'm interested in every school that I have an opportunity to have an offer from,” he said. “I'm super grateful and I keep my doors open to anybody.”
He will be looking at more than just football when it comes to picking one, though.
“I definitely think that the academic support (will be important) and if I were to go there, even if I didn't play football. That's important to me because football is going to end at some point, so you’ve got to walk out of wherever you go with a good education and somewhere where you can succeed in the education as well.”
