Sunday
SCHOOL | NAME | RECORD (APPEARANCES) | ERA | IP | STRIKEOUTS |

Clemson | RHP Caden Grice | 2-1 | 3.55 | 25.1 | 34 |
WHAT TO WATCH
- It’s hard to get a feel for the game when you’re not at the game to take in the environment and see various reactions, but it certainly seemed Notre Dame was off a little bit on Saturday and when LHP Jack Findlay left the game with injury, it took some wind out of the sails of the Irish ship.
Notre Dame will need to find its bats on Sunday as Notre Dame recorded just five hits in game two. Leadoff Jack Penney led the Irish will two hits and now it will be on the middle of the order to show. Brooks Coetzee has seen his batting average fall from around .270 to .230 over the last two weekends and Vinny Martinez is searching for a little more consistency.
Shawn Stiffler has rolled out the same lineup for the last week, but that could change on Sunday as i might make sense to get Nick Juaire or even Jack Zyska in the DH spot following Martinez going 0-for-3 on Saturday.
- RHP Blake Hely will get the nod and the Irish will have LHP Will Mercer ready to go in relief. Ideally, the Irish would likely like to get four innings out of Hely before getting RHP Radek Birkholz in before Mercer.
- As far as Jack Findlay’s injury, the severity is unknown at this point, but we believe Notre Dame is hoping for the best despite the reaction from its sophomore pitcher on Saturday. A year ago, Jack Brannigan suffered an arm injury and the worst was thought, but he didn’t miss too much time. Brannigan didn’t pitch again, but manned the hot corner to lead the Irish to Omaha.
We’ll keep you updated as Findlay will likely get tests done once the team returns to South Bend.
