St. John Bosco’s annual football showcase was an eventful one for Madden Williams‍.

The 2026 California receiver landed scholarship offers from Oregon, Washington, Texas and Colorado State immediately after last week’s event.

He added Notre Dame to the list a day later from Irish receivers coach Chansi Stuckey.

“My coach actually told me that the coach had reached out,” Williams explained. “He told me about my performance out there and he said that he loved me and that he'd like to offer me.”

The offer was a big one for the 6-foot-2, 180-pound freshman.

“Notre Dame is a big prestigious school,” he said. “It's always been in my top five and it was just great being able to get that. I've seen a lot of great players go through there, Chase Claypool, just to name one. It's just amazing.”

One of Williams’ early football mentors was former Irish great Oscar McBride.

He’s hoping to see South Bend for himself in the future.

“I was thinking maybe I could take an unofficial up there sometime this year; get to meet with the coaches, get to see them face-to-face and build a connection with them,” he said. “I've been planning to go up there, but I haven't been able to find the time.

“I would like to see everything, just being able to soak in the whole atmosphere and everything.”

Williams has already made a handful of unofficial visits and has a few more in mind.

“I've visited Oregon, UCLA, USC, Texas, Texas A&M,” he said. “I would like to go visit Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, some of the schools up north, just to get a feel for what it's like up there.

Coaches have told Williams they like his route-running, effort and ability to create separation.

He also has offers from schools like Stanford, Cal and Georgia Tech.

It’s still very early, but Williams has an idea of what he’s looking for in a college.

“Them treating me like family,” he said. “Anywhere that feels like home is where I want to go. I want to make sure that I have a strong connection with football, but also outside of football, making sure I get my degree and that I'm set up for life with the school.”

He’s thinking of narrowing his list sometime during his junior season and making a final decision by the end of it.
