2024 RB Kedren Young Goes In-Depth On Notre Dame Official

Kedren Young‍ got the chance to visit Notre Dame for the first time this weekend and the 2024 Texas running back was not disappointed.

“It was good,” Young told Irish Sports Daily afterward. “Me and my family had a great time. It was good.

“We had a couple of meetings. I met all the staff. We ate dinner, spent some time with the coaching staff. We just talked about football and all types of stuff. It was good.”

Irish running backs Deland McCullough has been after the Lufkin High School standout for months and made a great impression this weekend.

“He definitely expressed how much he wanted me, how they wanted me really bad,” Young said. “He had a presentation lined up for me. He already had told me before the visit that he had the presentation lined up for me. He explained everything; football aspect, the degree, how he can develop me to try to get me into The League. He had it all detailed.”

Young said the presentation added up to him.

Aside from his presentation, McCullough’s personality may have made the biggest impact.

“He's a great man,” said Young. “He really cares about not just me, but my family too. He respects my family. He wasn't just talking about football. He was asking about how we were; like every five minutes, he was just checking up on us and making sure we was good. He's a great man.”

Young had the chance to get to know Irish head coach Marcus Freeman better during the weekend.

“I talked to him on the phone maybe once or twice, but not as much as Coach McCullough,” Young said. “I got to sit with him face-to-face, me and my mother and the same thing with him. Great man. We talked about what Notre Dame could do for me, not just football, but in academics. We had a great talk.”

Young also felt he clicked with the other recruits in town.

“We built a relationship,” he said. “It was good meeting them. They were good people. Everybody was just good people. That is what stood out to me. I felt comfortable and everybody was great.”

The academic presentation also made a huge impression on both Young and his mother.

“We were happy about that,” he said.

Young still has visits scheduled to Texas A&M, Texas Tech, TCU and Baylor, at least for now.
