Elijah Rushing‍ made his third trip to Notre Dame this weekend, this time for an official visit, and once again, the elite 2024 Arizona defensive end left impressed.

“It went well,” the 6-foot-5, 240-pounder said. “I went back around campus, got to eat a lot of food.

“I got to hang out with the team and see more of the campus.”

The Salpointe Catholic star was able to get a peek at what life would be like living in South Bend.

“I got to see the living situation, all of the apartments and that,” he explained.

Prior to the visit, Rushing told ISD that getting around the people within the program, especially the players, would be crucial for this visit.

“It went really good,” he said. “They’re great people.”

Rushing spent a great deal of time with Irish linebacker Junior Tuihalamaka.

“He was really laid-back and knowledgeable,” said Rushing. “That was the biggest thing with him being there and having gone through the same experience that I’m asking about. He was very knowledgeable and patient.”

Overall, Rushing felt he would fit in well with the players at Notre Dame.

“It’s a family environment and you can tell by the way the players interact with each other,” he said.

Rushing also appreciated the opportunity to reconnect with head coach Marcus Freeman, defensive line coach Al Washington and the rest of the Notre Dame staff.

“It was good getting back to the knowledge of the game and talking ball a lot,” he said. “Like I said, they’re all good people.”

Rushing had already taken official visits to UCLA and Arizona before his latest Notre Dame trip. He heads to Tennessee and Oregon next before getting into decision mode.

It’s obvious the Irish positioned themselves well with this visit.

“It was a really good visit and helped make sense of things for me.”
