2025 WR AJ Johnson Talks Notre Dame Camp, Next Steps
AJ Johnson showed up to camp at Notre Dame in June ready to show what he can do and by all accounts, the 2025 Indianapolis receiver did just that.
“My route running, creating separation, and getting off press when everybody was trying to press me,” Johnson said about what he did well.
“As I was running around, they didn't expect me to be as quick as I was, so I was able to get off the ball pretty quick.”
The 6-foot-6, 219-pounder even received feedback from head coach Marcus Freeman.
“Coach Freeman was just telling me he really liked me and he liked how I was being aggressive with the DBs and fighting them off,” Johnson recalled.
Irish receivers coach Chansi Stuckey told Johnson “pretty much the same thing.”
“He was giving me all the routes to run, so basically he wanted to see different stuff,” Johnson said of Stuckey. “I ran a post curl, digs, I started off with a slant, a regular post. He was switching it up for me.”
The Cathedral High School standout didn’t have time to tour campus much, but he was in town for last fall’s game against Boston College.
He has early offers from West Virginia and Bowling Green and hopes to add the Irish to that list one day.
“Hopefully I get that offer and can come back up on campus again,” he said, adding a Notre Dame offer would mean “a lot.”
“Just because I'm from Indiana, hometown school, I've known what Notre Dame was since I was a kid.”
He’s also receiving interest from schools like Purdue, Kentucky, Wisconsin and others.
The Notre Dame camps was his last of the summer after stops at Michigan and Purdue as well.
