After checking out Notre Dame for the first time back in April, Deuce Knight‍ is scheduled to return later this month.

The elite 2025 quarterback from Mississippi will be back in South Bend for a visit July 27th.

“My mom didn't come on the last visit when we got up there, so giving her a chance to go up and see one of my top schools and just meet with the coaches and things like that,” Knight says of the biggest purpose of this visit.

“I'm her youngest child, so she's leaving me at a school with people. She's got to meet the people who she could be possibly leaving me at that school with.”

The 6-foot-4, 185-pounder says he’ll value his mother’s judgment when it comes to coaches and staff members at each school.

After hearing from her son and from head coach Marcus Freeman and quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli, she’ll be coming into the Notre Dame visit with high expectations.

“Obviously, she knows about the school, the academic side and the football side too,” says Knight. “I talk about Coach Freeman and Coach Gino. Coach Gino talks to her and things like that, but she hasn't seen them in person. She's expecting it to be a great day.”

The coaches are a major reason why the Irish are among those standing out to Knight at the moment.

“I feel like the energy that they bring into recruiting is different, the effort they put into recruiting,” he says. “Coach Gino, we probably talk like four times a week.”

Knight spoke with Freeman on Monday afternoon.

“I talk to him more than any head coach who is recruiting me,” Knight says of Freeman. “The effort they put into recruiting their guys is different.

“He's in Hawaii on vacation right now, so we hadn't talked in probably like a week. We were just catching up, he was asking me what's been going on with me in my life, what I've been doing to get better and that type stuff like that.

“He's on vacation with his family and he's talking to me, so that's crazy.”

Recent reports had Notre Dame and Tennessee at the top of his list, but Knight cautioned that that wasn’t exactly what he was trying to convey.

“It was kind of taken out of context,” he says. “I was saying that those two were the two that were recruiting me the hardest and those two I'm biggest on.

“But I'm not saying, 'This is my Top 2.. Anything that happen from this point on. I really don't have a date in mind when I want to commit.

In addition to the Irish and the Vols, Knight says he’s also seriously considering schools like Ole Miss, South Carolina, Washington, Auburn and Georgia.

He’ll be at Ole Miss for a visit on July 29th.

Knight doesn’t have a firm timeline for a decision, but it doesn’t sound like he’s planning to draw it out indefinitely.

“I think it'll come this year, but I don't know. I tell everybody the same thing, whenever I feel like it. I could commit tomorrow if I feel like that's where I want to go. I could make the decision tomorrow.”
