BREAKING | 2024 MA OL Guerby Lambert Commits To Notre Dame
It was a long and interesting road, but Guerby Lambert has landed where many always suspected he would.
The 2024 Massachusetts offensive lineman just announced his commitment to Notre Dame, giving the Irish 23 verbal commitments in their current recruiting class and the left tackle they relished all cycle.
He joins Peter Jones, Anthonie Knapp and Styles Prescod to give Notre Dame a quartet of offensive linemen in the class.
Lambert chose Notre Dame over offers from Ohio State, Penn State, Boston College, Harvard and several others.
The Catholic Memorial High School prospect didn’t do many interviews throughout the process, leaving many to speculate on what he was doing and where he was leaning. But ever since his official visit to South Bend at the beginning of June, it was clear Notre Dame was the team to beat.
“It was an amazing visit,” Lambert told Irish Sports Daily. “I got to spend time with the players, with the coaches, and I had a great time. Everyone was extremely nice. I was very impressed with everything that I saw.”
Irish head coach Marcus Freeman and offensive line coach Joe Rudolph made lasting impressions.
“(Rudolph) was a really good guy,” Lambert said. “All the players there had only good things to say about him, so I know he's a really good guy.”
Of Freeman, Lambert said, “We talked a lot. He's a really personable person, easy to talk to, so he made it really easy.”
The Irish remained atop the list following official visits to Ohio State, Boston College and Harvard to close out the month, but still had to wait as Lambert was operating on his own timetable.
Lambert even took additonal unofficial visits to Boston College afterward, but Notre Dame came out of those feeling even stronger about where it stood.
It’s clear school is important to Lambert, which is a main reason he considered Harvard so seriously, but in the end, it was Notre Dame that checked all of the boxes he was looking for.
“The academics obviously, the football, the high standards they set their players at.”
He’s a former teammate of current Irish freshman defensive lineman Boubacar Traore.
