2024 WR Commit Logan Saldate Ready For First Look At Notre Dame
Logan Saldate committed to Notre Dame a little over a month ago without ever visiting South Bend.
This weekend, the 2024 receiver will make the trip out from California to take in the Irish’s season-opener against Tennessee State.
“I can't wait,” the Palma High School star tells Irish Sports Daily.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder was committed to Oregon State when the opportunity to play at Notre Dame presented itself and it was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up.
He’s excited to get to see it all for himself.
“Finally meeting the coaches, seeing the campus in real life, even meeting Cam Williams and just the players who are going to be there and 2024 commits,” he says of what he’s looking forward to.
“And then most importantly, watching a game and seeing us win.”
Saldate had long conversations with Irish offensive coordinator Gerad Parker and receivers coach Chansi Stuckey – among others – before and since his commitment.
“I just want to talk with Coach Parker and Coach Stuckey and really just get a better feel for the offense,” he says. “I already know how it is and I see myself in it already, but just learn more about it and just really learn football at the next level.”
Saldate explains how the Notre Dame staff expects to use him.
“Definitely in the slot position and use my quick speed and ability to separate from the secondary defender,” he says.
While this Saturday will be his first time seeing the Irish in person, he was watching their dominant season-opening win over Navy in Dublin.
“It looked great, to be honest,” he says. “I was super surprised that they played seven true freshmen, I'm pretty sure it was. They looked like they just went out there and did their thing and had fun. Everybody's going to make mistakes, but just bounce back from them and have a game.”
Saldate’s own season started last Thursday. He had six catches for 175 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-12 win over Soledad…and that was in less than a half.
“I only played for a quarter and a half.”
