2025 DT Commit Davion Dixon Talks Notre Dame & More

Davion Dixon‍ was back in South Bend last month for the first time since committing to Notre Dame back in April and the 2025 Florida defensive tackle enjoyed himself.

“It was pretty good,” he said of July’s Grill & Chill event. “I had a good time bonding with some of the '25 kids and the coaches. It was a pretty cool time.”

Dixon was able to meet fellow defensive lineman Juju Marks‍ of Kansas and fellow 2025 Irish commit and Florida native, running back Justin Thurman‍.

“Me and (Thurman) are good now, we're tight,” Dixon said.

Dixon says the coaches want him to be a leader among the class as the first commit.

“It's a big role for me because I have to lead the '25 class,” he says. “They just want me to build bonds and talk to them.”

In fact, Dixon was on the phone with top 2025 quarterback target Deuce Knight‍ last week.

“I was just chatting with him,” Dixon says. “Me and him are like boys, checking in on how his game against IMG was. I try to convince him that Notre Dame is the place to be and we need a quarterback so there's no better place to be right now.”

Dixon says most of his talks with Knight and other recruits about Notre Dame go well beyond football.

“It's definitely a big academic place,” he says. “The University sets you up for life. When you get an ND diploma, you don't have to worry about all that other stuff in the future. It's a good historical place to be.”

He expects to be back at Notre Dame for the USC game in October.

“Just getting through the atmosphere of game day, spending time with the coaches of course, spending time with my family and just seeing some of my old friends,” he says of what he’s hoping to get out of that trip.

Despite his early commitment, other schools continue to pursue the Miami prospect.

“I understand the process,” he says. “People are going to still hit you up when you're committed, but you've just got to think about how it would be and if it's the place you want to be for three or four years. You've just got to see yourself there and I saw myself there.”

He admits the continued attention of others is flattering.

“It's pretty cool that other people still think about you, but they respect my decision and I just feel important to them,” says Dixon. “They're not pushy or anything, they're just letting me know that I've got many years and I think they're just trying to build bonds with me.”

He doesn’t have plans to visit any other schools at the moment.

“I don't really know, to be honest. I'll be fine with Notre Dame games.”
