When he looked at everything, he didn’t see any reason in waiting any longer, so on Monday, Deuce Knight‍ announced his commitment to Notre Dame.

“I feel like they just check all the boxes and everything I want in a school, so I felt like I just needed to go ahead and make it official so I could start recruiting for my class,” the highly-touted 2025 quarterback told Irish Sports Daily.

“Just the relationships I have with the staff and stuff, being able to compete for a national championship, that was big for me. Same with academics. I was big on that. Then, just playing for coaches who you know can develop you to being the best player and person and just the overall feel for the school; the fans, the campus, all that. The fans and campus are probably the best in the country.”

Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman and quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli led the recruitment for the Irish, but it was a total staff effort.

“Knowing that I can go to Coach Freeman for anything, anytime of the day, all of that,” Knight said. “Coach Gino, I can call him at midnight and he'll pick up. The same with Coach Freeman.

“Remember, I told you when Coach Freeman was on vacation in Hawaii, we was on the phone. Things like that mean a lot to recruit.”

The 6-foot-4, 190-pounder believes Guidugli is the coach to prepare for him the next level of his career.

“I just know for sure that Coach Gino can develop me and just make sure that I know all the ins and outs of football, he stays very engaged in everything, all the drills and things like that,” said Knight. “He just wants to make sure that you know everything that you need to know before you go to the NFL Draft I feel Coach Gino can bring out all that good stuff.”

Knight said the timing of his decision was more knowing what he wanted and trying to set himself up for success in college.

“I felt like it was meant for me and I felt like I was ready to make a decision,” he said. “I kind of knew in my head for the past month that that's where I wanted to be so I might as well go ahead and pull the trigger.”

As for the recruits he’s looking to go after now, Knight is going to get started today. It’ll be a long list, but he offered up a few.

“I'm trying to pull Jaime Ffrench from Alabama, get Tayln Taylor out of Chicago at receiver. On the offensive line, Owen Strebig and CJ Mayo on defense,” he said.

And that will be his sole focus.

His recruiting process is finished and said he will not be making visits to any other schools.

“I'm locked in 100 percent with Notre Dame.”
