BREAKING | 2025 DL Joseph Reiff Commits to Notre Dame
Notre Dame might have fell to Ohio State on Saturday night, but it’s very clear the big recruiting weekend was still a success.
2025 York High School (Ill.) defensive lineman Joseph Reiff has committed to Notre Dame and becomes the third weekend visitor to give a verbal pledge to Marcus Freeman as he joins running back Daniel Anderson and defensive end CJ May.
The 6-foot-5, 235-pounder camped at Notre Dame and left with an offer in June. The Illinois native returned to South Bend for the Grill and Chill event in July before making another trip for Saturday’s clash with Ohio State.
Reiff’s time at camp proved to be valuable as he was able to get a good feel for defensive line coach Al Washington and Freeman.
“I really like Coach Washington and Coach Freeman,” Reiff said last month. “I like their style of coaching. They've really been great so far.
“Coach Freeman comes from a military background. He mentioned that his dad was in the military, so he's a little bit more strict, but he definitely knows what he's doing. The players seem to love him.”
What is Notre Dame getting in Reiff? Well for starers Reiff is one who picks everything up very quickly.
“The biggest thing that always impresses me about Joe is you can tell when you're explaining and teaching something that he is really, really, really processing it,” said his trainer Ben Salomon. “You can tell he's trying to really, really, really understand what you're saying.
“He picks it up super fast.”
Reiff will only get bigger and it will allow some flexibility in a future position.
“His size, the way he moves and carries his size at such a young age, how much larger that frame is going to get and just how much size he's going to be able to pack on and still be really quick and twitchy and mobile,” said Salomon.
Reiff now joins May and defensive lineman Davion Dixon in Notre Dame’s 2025 defensive line haul.
