Jerome Bettis Jr.‍, has been to Notre Dame a lot, including several times this past year alone, but the 2025 Georgia wide receiver’s return trip to South Bend for this past weekend’s game against Ohio State was different.

“It was great,” Bettis Jr., told Irish Sports Daily. “I had a great time.

“We got to walk behind the players all the way to the stadium, so that was really special. All the Notre Dame fans were out showing love, so that was really cool. That was great to see. After we did that, we waited in the stadium for a little bit. I got to talk to Jack Swarbrick for a little bit. That was awesome.”

Swarbrick was pitching Notre Dame to the son of an Irish legend.

“Just the benefits of going to Notre Dame and why it's important that you could choose that school over some others,” Bettis Jr., said of Swarbrick’s message. “It was great to hear what he had to say.”

Bettis Jr., said the opportunity to connect and reconnect with so many other Irish recruits was “amazing.”

“We all had a great time,” he said. “In the recruiting station, we were lit. Getting to hang out with these guys has been amazing.

“Obviously a lot of them, I met during the cookout, so this was my second time seeing them, building on those relationships. Guys like Deuce (Knight), CJ (Carr), Ethan (Long), Justin (Thurman) and several others. It's been great to see them all.”

Bettis Jr., said having a quarterback committed in his class like Knight “means a lot.”

“Obviously, it's not the only thing you're considering when looking at a school, but when you have a top-tier quarterback like that, who's already committed, it's a huge incentive to want to go to Notre Dame,” he said.

Bettis Jr., doesn’t expect to have a final decision until “sometime after” his junior season.

He’ll be at Duke this weekend, when the Blue Devils host the Irish on Saturday night. And then, he’ll head back to South Bend for another primetime game at Notre Dame Stadium, this time against USC.

“As of right now, that's all I've got,” he said.

While he isn’t ready to make a decision just yet, he continues to hold Notre Dame in high regard.

“It's special,” he said. “Obviously with Coach (Marcus) Freeman now, you can kind of feel the change in the program in terms of how it was when Coach (Brian) Kelly was there and now. It makes a world of difference because having coach there who is so personable.

“Getting to know him, obviously having him recruit you, it means everything. So getting to know him and the recruiting staff, the coaching staff, and then obviously other recruits means a lot.”
