Anthony Rezac‍ made his first trip to Notre Dame last month for the Irish’s game against Ohio State and a couple days later, the 2024 Nebraska quarterback was offered a preferred walk-on position with Notre Dame by Director of Recruiting Chad Bowden.

“We talked and he was like, I want to officially offer you a (spot),'” Rezac explained.

“Obviously, I was pretty happy. Notre Dame's a super cool school and my brother's committed there. After just being there, seeing the environment on game day, learning about the program a little bit more than what I'd already known. It was really cool.”

Rezac’s twin brother, Teddy, committed to the Irish as a linebacker last spring.

Rezac was joined by his brother and their teammate, 2025 linebacker Christian Jones, in South Bend.

“I learned a little bit about the way they run their football team,” Rezac said. “I knew the basics of it just from being a fan of college football for so long, but actually talking to the coaches, learning their philosophies on a few things, just the way they act around each other, around the players. Seeing that was super big because that's a huge part of recruiting.

“Seeing the facility, seeing the stadium. That's the first time I've been to South Bend ever, and it was for a really cool game, so it was really awesome. I enjoyed it a lot.”

For his career at Westside High School, the 6-foot-4,195-pounder has won 28 of 30 games, completed 314 of 456 passes for 4,555 yards with 54 touchdowns and six interceptions. He’s also added another 1,864 yards and 30 scores on 251 carries as a runner.

On the season, Westside is 6-0 and Rezac is 67-90 for 1,095 yards with 16 touchdowns and one interception to go with 500 rushing yards and nine more scores.

Bowden and the Notre Dame staff have been impressed.

“He mentioned that I was a phenomenal athlete and I'd be able to help him out a lot,” Rezac explained. “He said he knows that I’d carve myself out a role. I'm going to work hard, work my ass off every single day, which is 110 percent true. He loved my first five weeks of film from the season. The film part is probably the biggest part.”

Rezac has offers to play at Army, Navy and Air Force along with a host of Ivy League schools.

“Just figuring out where I feel wanted and where I feel like the coaches make me a priority, having a good relationship with the coaching staff is something that I want to prioritize in my recruiting,” he said. “Also being able to fit in well with the system, with the guys, with the community, all that type of stuff.

“So, finding things out about that, finding more out every day, that's going to help me hopefully narrow down the search and then make a decision.”

Having his twin brother set to go to Notre Dame won’t hurt the Irish, but it certainly isn’t the only factor either.

“It definitely plays a part. We're twin brothers, we've never really been a part. It'd be a little bit weird not being with them, but at the same time, maybe that is something that is necessary. I wouldn't say it plays a huge part into it, but it'll definitely factor a bit.”
